Discovered jointly by the Purple Mountain Observatory and the ATLAS project in early 2023, this comet is expected to become a stunning sight. It will reach perihelion on September 27, 2024, and could potentially brighten to magnitude -1, or even brighter by October 2024. If this holds, it could rival some of the brightest objects in the sky. Its closest approach to Earth will occur on October 12, 2024, making it a candidate for naked-eye visibility in both hemispheres.
